The temples of Angkor Wat cover an area of 162.6 hectares and were built in the early 12th century. It was once the most advanced civilization. Over 700.000 people called it home.
In the mid 70’s Cambodia fell into a Communist regime led by Pol Pot. The regime was called Khmer Rouge, from 1975 to 1979, the Cambodian people experienced the roughest time of its modern age.
The goal was to turn Cambodia into a Communist state that is only focused on agriculture. To establish this goal, the Khmer Rouge eliminated individuality, education, and religion.
After over 10 years of civil war and over 30 years of rebuilding, Cambodia is making a comeback with a strong boost for the future.
